Home.
What an amazing feeling. After a few long days, twisted schedules, and random auditions I'm back in SLO County. Got into town last night about 9:30 and went straight to bed, what an exhausting week.
I ended up staying in LA one extra day so I could make another audition without having to drive countless hours home and back. The audition was a 4:00pm yesterday so I spent most of the day eating food at a Whole Foods market in Van Nuys.
Of course around audition time it was pouring rain and they wanted the athletes to high jump. From what I could tell it was going to be a Buick commercial with a high jumper doing his thing. As I arrived at the track it was dumping and there were no high jump pits to jump in. So they rounded all of the talent up and put us in a classroom and had us fill out paperwork and video tape us asking questions. I mentioned to the casting director that it might be a wise idea to watch us run outside because a lot of people say they can high jump but really don't understand the motion. So the interview moved outside in the rain and the director videoed us all running around. It's amazing what type of people who show up at these auditions. Most of the talent hadn't jumped from since High School when the ad clearly said, "must be REAL high jumper who competed in college or is competing out of college". But the truth is it's best to try because they might like the way you move even if you have terrible high jump form.
Callbacks are on Sunday I believe so I will just wait to hear word if they want to see me again. But as for now, back to my real life of being a decathlete. Heading to lift and run this morning and should feel pretty fresh cause I took the past two days off while in LA. Back to the grind!
