Audition

Headed down to LA today on an audition for Toyota/IAAF where they needed a guy who could high jump, long jump, sprint, throw javelin and hurdle. Sounds like me right? Well, I left San Luis at 8:00 to get to LA for the audition at 12:00. There were only two other guys down there, both decathletes that I know very well. It was good to see some friendly faces and we joked around a bit as we did the audition.

Turns out they wanted a female who could high jump and long jump and sprint and only wanted a male to throw javelin and hurdle. The auditions change without a moments notice and you just have to roll with it and show off your talent. So they videoed the men hurdling and throwing jav and then sent us on our way. The difficult thing about auditioning is you never know really what they are looking for. You could think you have it and then never get a call back. It's a rough business but you have to take it in stride.

All in all it was a pretty good day at Redondo beach. Here's a picture from my car, pretty fancy stuff right?

And a picture sitting on the 405. Seriously is there ever a good time to drive this freeway?

At any rate back to training tomorrow with pole vault, discus and running. The hammy is starting to feel better and I'm almost over this sickness. Stay updated for what the week has in store!
