A look at a wet track early Thursday morning. The weather in San Luis had been a little cold and rainy at the beginning of the week, but now its warmed up to the 70's through the weekend. This is when the training gets good.
After the off day on Wednesday I came back to the track Thursday for a little bit of sprinting and discus. It had been awhile since I had done any work in spikes since the hamstring injury so it felt really good to get almost to a full out sprint. I ran two flying 120m then a hot 250m out of blocks followed by two more flying 120m's. The workout felt good and it gives me more confidence the faster I feel like I can go.
We followed it up with a little discus practice that produced some really good throws. Here is a couple, the second one you can hear jack in the background, he was impressed to say the least.
In between workouts now as I'm posting. This morning at the track we trained alone cause Jack and the Cal Poly team are at their first competition at Cal Berkley. So Sharon and I did some high jump work and shot competition to get some blood flowing. I had her video some high jump so you all could see. These first two are from five steps out just working on carrying my energy up and over the bar. It's set at 6'2''.
This last video was some full approach jumps that we would do when it comes competition time. I was taking off a little farther away from the bar than I should but it was still a good jump.
So up next for me today is a weight workout at Athlon Elite after a little more food and maybe a 20min power nap.
As far as competitions go we are looking forward to the Cal Berkley Mulit Events the last week in March, about 3 weeks away. If we can get up to sprinting full out in this next week then I might end up doing the full meet instead of just picking and choosing events. Hope all is well and if there are some events you want to see let me know!
Troy has been enjoying watching all of your video clips. He's especially impressed with you doing the high jump. He made me play it for him about 5-6 times in a row, then ran to his room and tried his version of it on his bed. He now believes that he too can do the high jump. Kaid finds the high jump funny for some reason and giggles when he sees it. Troy is enjoying 'seeing' you on the computer.
